About Me

I’m an experienced filmmaker and video producer based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, working with organisations, agencies and creative teams to develop engaging video content from initial idea through to final delivery.

My background spans commercial filmmaking, visual effects, post-production, education and content production in New Zealand and internationally. I’m comfortable developing ideas, working directly with clients and stakeholders, writing, managing productions, leading creative teams and translating a brief into content that connects with its audience.

I particularly enjoy collaborating with organisations that value good storytelling and want video to form a meaningful part of their communications, marketing or education strategy.

Experience

I began my career after completing a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Visual Communication at Massey University. My first role was at Wellington visual effects and animation studio Oktobor, part of Silverscreen Productions, where I developed a strong grounding in commercial post-production and contributed to high-end television advertising and visual effects work on The Lord of the Rings films.

I later moved to London and worked in Soho's post-production industry as a commercial assistant editor before joining the Academy Award-winning visual effects studio Double Negative. There I worked on major international feature films including Batman Begins, Pride & Prejudice and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

That experience led to a broader career in filmmaking and content production. I have worked on projects in New Zealand, the UK, the Netherlands, Qatar, South Korea and China, including more than two years based in Shanghai.

My commercial work has included projects for international brands such as Lamborghini, Porsche, Adidas and Johnnie Walker, alongside documentaries, independent productions and short films recognised at international film festivals.

More than filmmaking

I can work independently when a project needs a small, agile unit, or bring together and lead a wider team when the scale of the production demands it. I’m equally comfortable discussing objectives with a marketing manager, interviewing someone who has never been on camera before, collaborating with other creatives, directing a shoot or working through an edit.

My experience as an educator has broadened my skillset. After training as a teacher in 2015, I taught design, photography, animation and filmmaking across secondary and tertiary education, including 3 years of delivering the Bachelor of Broadcasting Degree at the New Zealand Broadcasting School. Teaching has made me a better communicator, collaborator and mentor, and has given me particular expertise in making complex information clear, accessible and engaging.

What I do

I work across corporate and brand video, campaigns, documentary and storytelling, educational and training content, interviews, promotional content and post-production.

Depending on the project, I can manage the entire production or collaborate with an existing marketing, communications or creative team.

That can include developing the initial concept, refining the brief, planning and project management, interviewing, directing, filming, coordinating other creatives, editing and post-production through to delivery across multiple platforms.

My aim is to make the process straightforward, collaborative and enjoyable, and to create work that looks great, communicates clearly and earns its place in your campaign.

If you have a project in mind, I’d love to hear about it.
